Governor Jim Justice Announces Appointments to the PEIA Finance Board

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Governor Jim Justice announced today his appointments to the West Virginia Public Employees Insurance Agency (PEIA) Finance Board. The passage of Senate Bill 221 during the 2017 Regular Session of the State Legislature resulted in the new composition of the board, reducing the number from 10 to eight members and changing the experience requirements for members.

Effective Wednesday, September 6, 2017, the PEIA Finance Board includes the following members, in addition to Cabinet Secretary John Myers of the Department of Administration, who serves in a non-voting capacity as chairperson:

Representing the interests of education employees, Jared Robertson is a teacher and football coach at Greenbrier West High School. Robertson resides in Grassy Meadows in Greenbrier County.

Representing the interests of public employees, Raymond Whiting is an accounting technician with the West Virginia Division of Highways and has extensive experience in healthcare claims and healthcare administration. Whiting resides in St. Albans in Kanawha County.

Representing the interests of retired employees, William “Bill” Milam, who previously served on the board, is the Executive Director of the West Virginia Association of Retired School Employees. Milam resides in Charleston in Kanawha County.

Representing the interests of a participating political subdivision, Jason Myers serves as the Administrator for the City of Parsons.  Myers resides in Parsons in Tucker County.

Serving in a public member capacity, Michael Smith, who also previously served on the board, is retired and has an extensive background in both the private and government sector as a director of human resources. Smith resides in Milton in Cabell County. 

Serving in a public member capacity, Geoff Christian, MBA, serves as the Senior Vice President of the Benefits Division for Commercial Insurance. Christian resides in Charleston in Kanawha County.

Serving in a public member capacity, Amanda Meadows, MBA, CPA, is an Assistant Professor of Accounting in the School of Business and Leadership at the University of Charleston. Meadows resides in Scott Depot in Putnam County.

Serving in a public member capacity, Lee Diznoff, CPA, works for the firm of Herman & Company. Diznoff resides in Charleston in Kanawha County

The board term is four years and each may serve until his or her successor is appointed and qualified.
